Best New Orleans Happy Hour for Solo Travelers

New Orleans is a city known for festivals and fun, but there’s so much more to it than that. There are tons of places to visit as a solo traveler, especially when it’s cooled down in the evening and you’re in the mood for a cocktail.

Best New Orleans Bar Happy Hours for the Solo Traveler

Meril Restaurant in the New Orleans Warehouse District

Meril Restaurant in the New Orleans Warehouse District

We’ve rounded up the best happy hour deals in the city, from classic to brand new bars, perfect for the solo traveler.

The famed New Orleans chef, Emeril Lagasse expanded his New Orleans empire with the opening of his fourth restaurant, Meril. Named for his daughter, the restaurant is Lagasse’s most casual and affordable yet: Everything on the menu is less than $20, with a large portion of snacks and salads falling under $10.

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily, happy hour specials will include $5 well drinks, $5 glasses of wine and $5 flatbreads, including a chorizo flatbread, St. James Cheese flatbread, a version with mortadella and green chilies and a vegetarian flatbread with roasted vegetables. With a large bar, friendly staff and affordable small plates, this Warehouse District hot spot is the perfect place for the solo traveler.

Josephine Estelle

Josephine Estelle, the super hip Ace Hotel’s New Orleans-style osteria, is helmed by James Beard Award-nominated chefs Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman. Ticer and Hudman take the seasonal, craft-centric philosophy of Italian cuisine, stirring it up with fresh flavors of New Orleans and the American South. Enjoy $9 pastas and $5 cocktails every weekday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Read Astrid Solo Travel Advisers guide to the Ace Hotel (one of our top hotel picks for solo travelers) here.

The Country Club

Known for its hilarious weekend Drag Brunch, The Country Club, located in the Bywater, might be the most beautiful restaurant on the list. With a grand hardwood and granite bar,  beautifully appointed dining rooms, and a lush backyard with cabana lounge and pool, this New Orleans oasis is the ultimate place for food, drink and fun. The Country Club offers happy hour specials everyday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Enjoy $3 well drinks and a new Happy Hour Small Plate Menu Daily.

Superior Seafood

Just a short streetcar ride away, Superior Seafood is located on the corner of the historic St. Charles Avenue and Napoleon Avenue (Streetcar stop #24) . Every day from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and then again from 10:00 p.m. to closing, Superior serves up 50-cent oysters, two-for-one frozen mojitos, half-off house wine, and $3 draft beer. Their signature pomegranate frozen mojito pairs the storied fruit with fresh mint, lime, and a healthy pour of rum — it tastes delicious with the restaurant’s fresh oysters.

Trinity, Lower Decatur's hot restaurant and bar that's been touted as one of NOLA's best by Conde Nast Traveler and Opentable, is living up to the hype with new cocktails and a variety of new happy hour specials. A perfect destination to wind down after a long day exploring, happy Hour at Trinity features a playful lineup of libations and bites, available Sunday through Friday from 4:30PM - 7PM. For night owls, happy hour returns with a second round on Fridays and Saturdays from 10PM - Midnight.
